50 shades of anime

Posted by Kel-chan - November 16th, 2014

I have a bunch of shaders and crap for MMD that I've found on deviantart and from beamman and bowlroll. I can't decide which one I like. Originally I usually go with a type of shader that looks cel-shaded and simple like regular anime.

This T-toon shader ( the final night filter isnt on this one)

But originally I got into 3d because of Appleseed which looks like this

I know thats a bunch of composites but still

I have a bunch of looks to choose from

Adult shader

NHCL shader ( I kind of like this one)

Serious Shader (this one looks pretty good too)

T-Toon Eye/hair shader ( this one kind of gives it that highlight but its a little plasticky)

The problem is with all these shaders since these models aren't amazing quality, nor are the rigged like a movie model would be with tons of bones and sliders- some of the more defined shaders bring out more of the flaws in the model geometry

Lemme know which one you like. For me it might be between NHCL and serious shader. It's kind of annoying because I rendered all of the next ep with T-Toon like I have been doing but only thought of this afterwards. The more serious shaders give it a more serious feel

I like the Appleseed shader the best!

i know right lool

Can't you use more than one? You know, only apply the effect to certain areas by erasing the excess? You'd think after a few decades of programming these e-abacuses, there'd be substantial improvement over application of apps... I kinda like the last one, though it looks like it needs a little fettling (adjusting) - it really does bring out the shapes of the models better... then there's a continuity issue of sorts if you wanna change.. you'll do what's best ;) never mind my devil's advocacy.

I'd totally go with the serious shader. It really brings out the face!

I like the Serious shader a lot more than the NHCL shader.

I think thats' the one I'm going to try with this episode- although some models look better than others with it. If I'm lucky- I should be able to finish the episode either today or tomorrow.

Thanks for your awesome site- otherwise I'd have nowhere to post stuff! YT suuuucckssss
